For promotion of tourism in Panchkula district, a proposal has been mooted for starting paragliding at Mandana village in Morni block. The proposal has been moved to Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar by Bharat Bhushan Singal, a member of Shivalik development board, Haryana.
Singal has identified a site, around 20 km from Panchkula, having approximately 90 degree slope, which is ideal for paragliding and a proper area for landing. Singal claimed that a few years back a survey of this site for paragliding was done by an agency and had found the site suitable for paragliding. Singal has requested the chief minister to get the site inspected by competent authority for suitability of the adventure sport.
Singal maintained that adventure sports like paragliding would attract tourists from across the country, giving boost to the local economy.
Singal has also requested the chief minister for promoting forest guest houses in Haryana. As per the policy of the forest department, Haryana, general public can book rooms, huts and conference halls available in these guest houses on payment. Singal pointed out that on the official website (http://haryanaforest.gov.in) of the Haryana forest department, there was no mention of guest houses and their booking procedure. Due to poor publicity, these guest houses witness low occupancy, thus proving to be white elephants to the state exchequer. He urged the chief minister to issue instructions for proper promotion of these guest houses.
