Members of various student bodies staged a protest outside Panjab University's (PU) vice-chancellor office against the proposed fee hike on Thursday.

The student bodies had also staged protest on Wednesday. Indian National Student Organisation (INSO), Hindustan Students' Association (HSA), Students Federation of India (SFI), Student Organisation of India (SOI) and Ambedkar Students' Association (ASA) took part in the protest. The students demanded that the proposal to increase the fee should be taken back.

The varsity has proposed a fee hike of 5% with upper limit of Rs 1,500 for all courses, including self-finance for the next academic session.

SFI president Prabhpreet Singh said that they will continue with their protest until the proposal was not rolled back. "We will launch a signature campaign on Friday and will also hold a protest march on the campus,"he added.

The last revision of fee was done in May this year after a gap of six years.
