Protesters' privileges

Kurukshetra: Supporters of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) are enjoying special privileges while pursuing their indefinite protest.

They have been permitted to hold an indefinite dharna outside Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi, on one of the busiest roads in this holy city. As traffic on this stretch has been diverted to other parts of the city, residents and visitors are facing traffic chaos.

Moreover, the protesters have managed to get uninterrupted power supply through a ‘kundi’ connection. It was seen that there were nearly 30 pedestal fans running since Saturday night on power drawn illegally from the main supply line near the gurdwara.

Interestingly, the district officials are camping at the site since Saturday but no one has objected to the ‘kundi’ connection.

A touch of humour

Jathedar Sisa Singh, an ardent supporter of the HSGMC, has ensured that the people gathered have some light moments. Twice a day, he was asked by the HSGMC leaders to calm the protesters. The jokes by Sirsa Singh, a cousin of HSGMC president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, revolved around on Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal and his party.
