The Punjab government has accorded permission to students having 'compartment' in Class 12 to get provisional admission in technical colleges, polytechnic colleges and industrial training institutes (ITIs).
Stating this on Monday, technical education minister Anil Joshi said this decision had been taken considering prospects of students keen to pursue technical studies. He said these students would have to clear the 'compartment' before the first-semester examination, failing which the admission of such students would be deemed cancelled.
Joshi said this was a welcome step to promote technical education. He said vacant seats in technical institutions would soon be filled.
