Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) chairman Dalbir Singh Dhillon on Friday claimed that controller of examination Sukhwinder Kaur Saroya was trying to frame him in a false case of sexual harassment because the PSEB board of directors had reverted her to the post of senior legal adviser in March this year.
Saroya had moved court after the additional charge of controller of examination was taken back from her. Following the stay granted by the court, she is continuing on the post.
At a press conference at the board office here on Friday, Dhillon said, "The board of directors took the decision to remove Saroya as the controller after complaints and affidavits were filed against her.
In most of the affidavits, it was alleged that she demanded money from people for doing their work. Now, she is levelling charges against me and board secretary Balwinder Singh. We are forwarding complaints against her to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, education minister and director general of police."
When contacted, Saroya said, "I will prove the allegations against the chairman. The corruption charges against me are baseless. I demand that an inquiry should be conducted to find out the truth."
In September last year, the board had given Saroya the additional charge of controller of examinations for two years. Then, seven candidates had appeared in the interview for the post. However, none was found fulfilling the selection criterion.
Board secretary Balwinder Singh said some of the board directors placed on record complaints against Saroya. "The order to withdraw the additional charge was issued on the basis of the decision of the board of directors," he confirmed.
