Assistant professor at Panjab University's (PU) institute of forensic science and criminology, Vishal Sharma, will present his research work at the fourth International Colloids Conference at Madrid in Spain on June 17.
Vishal, who will speak about technology on finger printing at the conference, said: “Finger marks are still one of the most valuable forms of physical evidence to provide identification and generalised proof of individualism in spite of the recent rapid growth in the use of DNA technique.”
In fact the central government is taking individual fingerprint for identification under the Aadhaar project.
The ridge patterns are permanent characteristics (as they are formed deep into the skin). They are universal and leave marks on objects handled with bare hands.
Vishal thanked PU vice-chancellor AK Grover for encouraging the research activities and providing support for the event.
