Panjab University began recounting of votes due to thin margin among the contestants.

Though officials have not announced the result, sources revealed that National Student Union of India (NSUI) alliance had won the seats of president, secretary and joint secretary, while Punjab University Student Union (PUSU) won the seat of vice president. The NSUI has retained the seat of the president by a thin margin of 55 seats, the sources revealed. The third major alliance SOI has drawn blank.

The recounting is underway in the presence of authorised persons by the candidates.

The PU has also postponed the election of executive members of student council from amongst Department representatives (DRs) due to recounting.
