PU community radio to introduce certificate course

Panjab University (PU) community radio station, Jyotirgamaya 91.2, in collaboration with the Chandigarh municipal corporation, will start a certificate course in radio production free-of-cost.

The course will start under the National Urban Livelihood Scheme of the central government.

The requisite educational eligibility for joining the course is Class 12 and the person should be between the age group of 18 and 35 years. The last date for receiving the applications is January 30.

The applicant should be a resident of Chandigarh for at least last three years. The family income should not be more than `1.50 lakh per annum.

"The selected applicants will be given stipend, local travel allowance and a study kit," said Jayanth Pethkar, chairperson, School of Communication Studies, PU.

He said: "It is a great opportunity for young students, who want to pursue their career in the radio industry. I hope maximum number of students will avail of benefit from this opportunity."

Briefing about the course, Sunil Sharma, head, radio production, said: "It is a skill training programme particularly made for deprived children, who cannot afford such courses otherwise." For more details, applicants can contact at 0172-2710180.
