The Panjab University (PU) has invited applications for the BSc (hospitality and hotel administration) and BSc (tourism management) at University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism (UIHMT), PU campus. A spokesman said that the prospectus and application form had been made available on the Panjab University website: http://puthat.puchd.ac.in/.
The students can apply before April 17. The PU stated that the admissions would be based on entrance test, the Panjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT), which would be conducted on May 11, 2014.
The test would be open to all such candidates who had passed (up to the academic session 2013-2014) in the 10+2 examination conducted by the CBSE or other recognised board/university/council with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate and English as one of the compulsory subjects.
There are 60 seats in BSc (hospitality and hotel administration) and 30 seats in BSc (tourism management). There would be one additional seat each for only (single) girl child, cancer/AIDS patient, wards of Kashmiri displaced persons.
The last date for submission of online application to generate the bank challan is April 17 and fee could be deposited with any of the State Bank of India branch by April 22, 2014.
The last date for submission of fee details and uploading of photographs, signature with the rest of the information on the website is April 25, 2014. The PU said the e-admit cards would be available on the website on May 1 and there would be no physical communication in this regard, the PU stated.
Website of the PUTHAT was launched on Monday by director of computer centre, K Tankeshwar. The PU is also making a video available on the website about the instructions for filling up the form.
