PU mulls approaching police after SMS ‘promises’ admissions

A text message circulated among candidates aspiring to seek admission in PU University Business School (UBS) has raised the varsity’s hackles : the SMS promises admission to the institute under the management quota.

The admission process is cur rently underway at UBS. University authorities are now considering approaching the police with the matter.

The issue came to light after an aspirant brought the text message to the institute’s notice. The text, circulated among candidates who took the CAT examination, claimed that five seats remained vacant under the management quota. The text contained details of a website in which the candidates were asked to apply.

The UBS board of control, at a meeting held in this regard, decided to report the matter to PU authorities.

“PU is considering for reporting the matter to the police and taking due legal action against the culprit(s). There is no management quota in the UBS or in any other course,” the PU spokesperson said.

In a statement cautioning aspirants against such “mischief mongers”, a PU spokesperson said, “All the admissions in PU are given on merit basis and PU has not authorised anybody to contact any candidate on its behalf,” he added.
