In a significant move, the authorities at Panjab University (PU) have decided not to hold the mathematics exam of BA/BSc 2 again.
The university had earlier notified that the exam would be held on May 11, as the question paper for the said exam was exactly the same as that of the last year.
The mathematics exam was conducted on April 17, following which the university was informed about the goof-up. A decision was then taken to conduct the exam again, but was changed on Monday. The officials are yet to decide what action would be taken against the examiner.
The mathematics paper-B had caught everyone unaware as not even a single question in the question paper differed from the 2012 question paper. The sequence of the questions was also the same. However, some students are rejoicing over the decision, while some are resenting the move.
Meenakshi Sharma a B.Sc student said: "What was the point studying for the entire year, when one could have easily passed by studying last year's question paper? The university authorities need to take a strict action." Others too echoed similar feelings.
After the question paper for mathematics exam got repeated, a similar incident happened with BA students, while they went to take their Punjabi exam.
