The Panjab University authorities have referred an alleged case of submission of fake documents to the Ludhiana police for further investigation.

An enquiry committee constituted by PU into the case found that the detailed mark sheet of BBA-1 and the migration certificate submitted by a student, Jaspreet Kaur, who took admission in BBA-2 in a Ludhiana college were fake, said an official spokesperson.

The case pertains to the academic year of 2011-12. The university authorities said the enquiry was conducted on a complaint by Prithipal Singh Grewal, a resident of Ludhiana.

"Looking into the seriousness of the offence, the university has referred the case to the Ludhiana police commissioner for investigation. The university has not, in any manner, pre-judged any issue against anyone so as to who all were involved," the PU spokesman said adding that at present, the university was not aware by whom the crime was committed and that would be clear only after the matter is duly investigated by the police.
