The economics offences wing (EOW) on Monday arrested main accused Pooja Bagga, her husband, Jatinder Singh, and brother-in-law Baljinder Singh in the case of financial bungling at Panjab University (PU).
A special team under the supervision of inspector Ajinder Singh nabbed her near Maloya on a tip-off, when she and her family were on their way to some religious place. She was at large since her bail plea was dismissed by court on September 16.
She was produced in court on Tuesday. The three of them have been remanded to three-day police custody.
On September 7, the police had booked Pooja, a contractual employee of the university, for withdrawing around Rs 1.6 crore from the university funds fraudulently. She had diverted money to the bank accounts of her family members reusing old vouchers.
Panjab University has already recovered Rs 92 lakh.
