Panjab University (PU) felicitated its students for performing well in national-level youth festival, during an annual function organised by its department of youth welfare, here on Thursday.

PU teams bagged the first position in one-act play, poster making and on-the-spot painting, held during the All India National Youth Festival at Indore.

The students DAV College, Sector 10, teamed up to successfully stage the one-act play. Deepak Singh from Government College of Arts, Sector 10, won the first position in poster making.

PU mime and quiz teams won second positions, the elocution team came third and PU won the fourth position in classical dance. PU vice-chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover awarded the winners with certificates, medals and PU roll of honour.

Grover highlighted the importance of participating in international youth festivals and events. "Some model should be evolved to enable students performing at national youth festivals to also be able to participate at the international level,"he said. He motivated students to perform better in the fields of culture, sports and academics.

"PU colleges, which are an integral part of the university, need to play a bigger role in bringing laurels to the university," Grover added.
