Both PUSU and SOI had accused the student council for funds embezzlement during Vimarsh, the annual science festival of PU.

For the event, the student council had taken an advance of Rs 2 lakh. As per rules, the council has to take permission from the purchase committee if the expenditure for the event is more than Rs 15,000.

Local unit president of SOI, Vikramjeet Singh alleged that the student council had committed financial fraud and had submitted fake bills to the authorities. He demanded that all the bills submitted by the student council should be put under scrutiny.

PUSU spokesperson Tajinder Singh Dhiman alleged that the student council is trying to put pressure on the authorities to accept the fake bills submitted by them by asking for different information pertaining to the source of income of university under RTI Act.

Rubbishing the allegations, PUCSC president Divyanshu Budhiraja said they had organised the event in a very transparent manner and have provided details of money spent on the event to the authorities. He further added that they are open to any inquiry on the allegations.

DSW Navdeep Goyal confirmed to have received representation from SOI and PUSU and said that the matter will be discussed in the meeting scheduled to be held on March 16. On allegations of fraud levelled by SOI and PUSU on student council, DSW said that they will look into the matter.
