The last meeting of this year's syndicate of Panjab University (PU) will be held on December 5, said sources at PU. Sources said vice-chancellor (V-C) AK Grover was not of the view to convene the meeting as syndicate elections were only a few days away.

The meeting has been finalised at the eleventh hour representation of faculty of a few senate members had to be approved by the syndicate, before they take part in syndicate elections scheduled to be held on December 9.

Among others, those whose faculty are to be approved are Navdeep Goyal, dean students welfare, and, Devinder Singh, president, Panjab University Teachers' Association.

The senate members are allowed to choose faculty of their choice from which they can fight and cast their votes to select the syndicate member. The issue of 10% fee hike in other departments and 20% in self-financed courses could also be taken up.

The university had last week deferred the implementation of same following students protest. The sources said the issue of appointment of new dean university instructions (DUI) could also be discussed as serving DUI Madhu Raka is completing her tenure on November 30.
