Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, students brought laurels to the varsity at the 30th North Zonal Youth Festival by winning five first positions, two second positions and four third positions along with overall trophies in literary items and theatre.
The youth festival was organised by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, at Jammu University, where 25 universities of the northern region participated in various events.
Director of youth welfare Nirmal Jaura said as many as seven teams of the PU would participate in the All India National Inter University Youth Festival, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from February 12 to 16.
PU vice-chancellor Arun Kumar Grover congratulated the department of youth welfare, winners and students of the university. As many as 37 participants from the university had participated in the championship.
PU teams won the one act play, group mime, spot painting, quiz and elocution. Abhishek Gautam, Gurleen Kaur, Rama Ahuja, Sylvester Stephen, Sukhpreet Singh, Yogesh, Vishal Verma, Ishant Gandhi and Divyangna Sharma from DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, were in one act play team.
Group mime was represented by Sunidhi, Yogeshwari Priya, Renuka, Sushma, Aarti Yadhav and Gunisha Vishnani from Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh.
The quiz team consisted of Shantanu Sharma, Ayush Awasthi and Raghav Jain from PU Campus. Arshdeep Kaur from Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, represented PU in elocution.
PU teams also won second positions in poster making and classic dance (Kathak) and won third positions in on the spot photography.
