Punjab: 39 election observers appointed for municipal elections

The Punjab State Election Commission has appointed 39 election observers, including IAS officers, for a free and fair conduct of the municipal elections in the state.

The Punjab State Election Commission has appointed 39 election observers, including IAS officers, for a free and fair conduct of the municipal elections in the state.


Of these, 10 observers have been appointed specially for the six municipal corporations going to the polls on February 22.

The observers for the corporation elections are Dharam Pal (Pathankot), Sukhjit Singh Bains and Tejinder Singh Dhaliwal (Phagwara), Kanwalpreet Brar and Hargunjit Kaur (SAS Nagar), Harjit Singh and Malwinder Singh Jaggi (Moga), Kirpa Shankar Saroj and Mandeep Singh (Bathinda) and Navjot Singh Randhawa (Hoshiarpur), a spokesman of the commission said here on Thursday.

The observers for the elections to the municipal councils and nagar panchayats in other towns are Dilraj Singh (Ajnala, Rayya, Ramdas, Majithia, Jandiala Guru, Tarn Taran, Bhikhiwind and Patti), Harbhupinder Singh (Gurdaspur, Sri Hargobindpur, Batala and Fatehgarh Churian), Veerendra Kumar Meena (Dhariwal, Qadian, Dera Baba Nanak and Dinanagar), Dharam Pal (Sujanpur), AS Miglani (Nakodar, Nurmahal, Phillaur and Kartarpur), Arvinder Singh Bains (Alawalpur, Adampur, Lohian and Mehatpur), Raj Kamal Chaduri (Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi and Nadala), Kuldeep Singh Vaid (Dasuya, Mukerian, Urmud Tanda and Garhshankar), Tej Kumar Goyal (Gardhiwala, Hariana and Sham Churasi), B Purusharta (Nawanshahr, Banga and Rahon), Vijay N Zade (Khanna, Jagraon, Samrala, Raikot, Doraha and Payal), Amarpartap Singh Virk (Rupnagar, Anandpur Sahib and Nangal), Vinay Bublani (Morinda, Chamkaur Sahib and Nurpur Bedi), VK Janjua (Sirhind, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mandi Gobindgarh, Bassi Pathana and Khamano), Sumer Singh Gujar (Rajpura, Nabha, Samana, Patran and Sanaur), Amit Talwar (Sangrur, Malerkotla, Sunam and Ahmedgarh), Parminder Pal Singh (Dhuri, Lehragaga, Longowal, Amargarh and Bhawanigarh), Samir Kumar (Barnala, Bhadour, Dhanaula and Tapa), Raminder Singh (Kharar, Zirakpur, Dera Bassi, Kurali, Banur, Nayagaon and Lalru), Vikas Garg (Rampura Phul, Bhucho Mandi, Goniana, Rama, Kot Fatta, Kot Shamir, Lehra Mohabbat and Ballianwali), Vimmi Bhullar (Sangat, Kotha Guru and Mehraj), C Sibbin (Bhai Rupa, Rampura, Chaoke, Nathana, Mandi Kalan and Maluka), Mohinder Pal Arora (Mansa, Budhlada and Bareta), Chandar Gaind (Sardulgarh, Boha and Joga), Sandeep Rishi (Muktsar, Malout and Gidderbaha), Manjit Singh Narang (Ferozepur, Guru Har Sahai, Zira, Talwandi Bhai, Mudki and Mamdot), Manpreet Singh (Fazilka, Abohar, Jalalabad and Arniwala Sheikh Subhan), Ajoy Kumar Sinha (Faridkot, Kotakpura and Jaitu) and Arun Sekhri (Badhni Kalan, Kot Isse Khan and Nihal Singh Wala).
