The Punjab Congress MLAs clashed with the Punjab cops over the entry of the woman who hit the headlines after being thrashed by the policemen in full public view in Tarn Taran, into the state assembly complex.

The woman had sneaked into the assembly complex with the help of some Congress legislators, who wanted to present her before the media to highlight the Tarn Taran incident. The policemen in plainclothes reached the Congress office in the assembly building and tried to take the woman away, but were confronted by the Congress MLAs.

In the melee that followed, a few Congress MLAs pushed the policemen out and roughed one of them who fell down. The legislators, who were inside the House, had staged a walkout to discover the cops outside the CLP office. Congress leaders Sunil Jakhar and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal later mediated to calm things down.

The Congress had brought the woman to the Punjab assembly to corner the Badal government on law and order situation in the state.
