The Punjab finance department went online on Monday. Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said as the training of all officials and employees concerned had been completed, the department had started receiving online all fund proposals from various departments.
He said all district treasuries had already started online payments to beneficiaries from April 1. The minister said Punjab was the first state in the country to initiate the process.
Dhindsa added that as part of the e-sarkar project, online facility had been provided to all departments to submit all cases for release of funds online to the finance department.
It has also been decided that no physical files would be required to be submitted and necessary instructions have been issued by the state government to all departments, he added.
