"It is really shameful that biological fathers turn physical abusers of their daughters without or under the influence of liquor," reacted a reader angrily to the Hindustan Times story highlighting the sexual abuse of the girl child by fathers in Punjab.

It's one of the many angry reactions which punjab.ht received in response to the story.

This story was widely read and shared across social media platforms Facebook and Twitter, highlighting people's concerns about the issue that needs to be tackled urgently.

The comments received on the story express simmering anger among people and can be sufficed in the words of an online reader who says he would rather prefer to stay out of such society and protect his children, than live in it.

“So much for the social stigma, so much for the bread and butter that a mother can turn a blind eye to such a horrendous crime against her own child. Which society would accept child abuse, that too by the father? I would rather stay out of such society and protect my children than live in it,” he writes.
