Punjab government to launch mobile app for farmers

The Punjab government is set to launch mobile application for farmers, equipping the community with the latest information about farm technologies, agricultural inputs and weather updates.

A government spokesperson on Sunday said the application wil help farmers get information about agriculture development, including latest techniques to sow the crops, availability and right type of fertiliser, herbicide, pesticides and weather prediction.

The mobile application will prove a boon for farmers as it will enable them to choose seeds on the basis of price and productivity, he said.

The application will also provide information about weather at the time of sowing and harvesting, so that the farmers can save their crops from unfavorable climate conditions.

The inputs related to adequate quantity of seeds, pesticides and manure will be provided on the basis of scientific practices, the spokesman added.

He further added that government had also facilitated the farmers with Kisan Call Centre. The farmers can call any time for any inquires and this mobile app is a new initiative.
