Senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Monday said the SAD-BJP government which claimed to make Punjab a power-surplus state had been fully exposed since there is a shortage of power in the state.
The government is answerable to the people for this state of affairs, she said.
Bhattal said the state government should compensate the agriculture sector and industry which had suffered heavy losses due to acute shortage of power.
She said bureaucracy was an important component of the administration whose command lay in the hands of the government. If there is a corrupt officer, why doesn’t the government act against him, she asked.
Bhattal said that based on her own experience, she could say that bureaucracy in the state was very efficient and intelligent provided the government knew how to handle it.
