The Punjab government has asked its officers to enrol under the national digital locker system (NDLS), thereby enabling them to store and access all documents issued by the government on the cloud storage system.
Stating this, an official spokesman said the aim of the digital locker scheme was to place all educational, medical, passport and PAN (permanent account number) card details of every Indian in a digital form on the cloud storage system so that citizens could access them from anywhere in the world without having to carry all documents physically.
He added that the state governance reforms department had issued necessary directions to all administrative secretaries and deputy commissioners for enrolment of all officers/officials under the NDLS.
The spokesman said the scheme would be linked to the Aadhaar numbers of citizens.
The data would be protected by a one-time password, which would be sent to the user’s mobile via an SMS every time he tries to log into his digital locker. Citizens can start using the digital locker immediately by logging in at http://digitallocker.gov.in, http://digilocker. gov.in and http://elocker.gov.in.
