chandigarh Updated: May 15, 2012 14:43 IST

Middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh will be honoured by the Punjab government for his "outstanding contribution" to the Indian Cricket team's win in the Wold Cup last year.

Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and member parliament and president Punjab Olympic Association SS Dhindsa would honour Yuvraj with the cash prize of Rs 1 crore at a function here on Wednesday, an official spokesman said.

The left-hander has been forced out of action for the past few months following a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs.
