Punjab has rolled out an intensive cleanliness campaign, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ with all its districts starting a week-long campaign from September 25 to October 2.
A spokesman said here on Thursday that for achieving the desired results of this campaign that had been announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the entire country, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had directed the government officials to ensure that the guidelines of campaign were adhered to and the campaign made a grassroots movement.
Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal had also said that the state government was committed to maintaining cleanliness in the state.
He said that during the week-long campaign, all districts would undertake mass awareness exercises for cleaning workplaces, streets, roads, markets, railway stations, bus terminals, monuments, ponds, parks and other public places.
The urban local bodies have been directed to ensure adequate disposal of the garbage.
