With the aim of promoting allied farming activity in the state, the Punjab government would organise the Livestock Expo-2015 at Muktsar from January 8 to 12.
Stating this on Tuesday, a spokesperson for the chief minister’s office (CMO) stated that apart from exhibitions, seminars and technical sessions on various aspects of livestock, special focus would be laid on emerging technologies and strategies in modern animal husbandry practices through deliberations by experts, technocrats and progressive farmers.
Meanwhile, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal reviewed arrangements for the event during a high-level meeting with senior officers of the department of animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries held here at the CMO.
It was informed during the meeting that this year, the state government was organising the first Livestock Expo, instead of a traditional livestock mela, with the participation of PHD Chamber of Commerce. As many as 130 companies dealing in livestock would take part in this expo.
The CM also directed the animal husbandry department to make elaborate arrangements for shelters and sheds, besides fodder for animals at the expo.
