Punjab man among 2 killed in Jammu accidents

A Vaishno Devi pilgrim was among two killed in separate road accidents across Jammu region, police said.

"A Vaishno Devi pilgrim, identified as Jaswant Singh of Punjab, died while three others were injured when their taxi was hit by a truck near Nagrota on city outskirts yesterday," the police said.

Three pilgrims namely Pranav Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Major Singh were injured in the accident and they were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old girl died after she was crushed by a tractor in Arnia area of city outskirts.

"The deceased, identified as Pinki Saini, daughter of Yashpal Saini, died last evening when she was crushed by a tractor within her house premises," police said.

Police said children were playing on the tractor and they accidentally started it adding that "on apprehending accident, the girl tried to save the kids but uncontrolled tractor crushed her and she died on the spot."

A case has been registered and investigations are in progress.
