Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said here on Saturday that the state government would honour all the players, who have brought laurels for the state by bagging medals in the ongoing Commonwealth Games.

“The state government has already formulated a policy for honouring medallists in Olympics, Commonwealth and Asian Games. In pursuance of this policy, the state government will honour all these players who have proved their mettle by bagging medals in the Commonwealth Games,” the chief minister said.

He said this while talking to mediapersons during a ‘sangat darshan’ programme in Lambi villages, including Gurusar Jodhan, Dabwali Dhab, Burj Sidwan, Sham Kheda, Dhani Barki, Dhani Punan Singh, Kolianwali, Chaapianwali and Saraawan Bodlaan of Muktsar district.

The chief minister refuted the allegation levelled by the opposition regarding the law and order problem in the state. He said that the topmost priority of the SADBJP alliance government was to maintain peace in the state. He said that ever since the alliance government had taken over the reins, Punjab has witnessed an era of peace, communal harmony and brotherhood.

“The biggest achievement of my government is that despite being a border state, Punjab is today considered the most peaceful state in the country,” added Badal.
