The Punjab government issued orders on Monday not to grant leave to all officers (group A and B) during the ensuing budget session of the Vidhan Sabha.

An official spokesman said the state government had issued written instructions to all department heads, commissioners of divisions, deputy commissioners and registrar of Punjab and Haryana high court not to grant leave to officers during the said period so as to ensure smooth working of the budget session.

"It has come to the notice that the functioning of Vidhan Sabha is affected due to officers on leave. So, the Punjab government has decided not to grant leave to the officers during the budget session," he said and added that the department head could allow leave to an officer in case of emergency by appointing a substitute.
