According to an official spokesman, the last date for submission of applications for regularisation, which was fixed as December 20, has now been extended to December 31. He stated that 25% (down from 50%) of the total charges of regularisation were now to be paid at the time of approval.

The spokesman said marriage palace owners had complained that the time for submission of applications was too short and the first instalment (50%) of charges was too high. In view of these problems, the state government has amended the marriage palace policy, the spokesman said, adding that the date for granting approval had been extended to January 1, 2013.

The condition of minimum area for existing marriage palaces on link roads has been relaxed. The spokesman said a number of other amendments in building norms had been introduced in the policy.
