Irked over a perpetual domestic quarrel, a Punjab Police Commando, Dildar Singh posted at Mohali allegedly killed his wife Jasbir Kaur (35) by repeatedly striking a hammer on her head at his house in Goht Pokar village near here on Friday night.

Gurdaspur city deputy superintendent of police Navjot Singh said here on Saturday that the main accused Dildar Singh had been arrested while his father Pyara Singh and two brothers Gulzar Singh and Jujhar Singh, whose names also figured in the FIR, were yet to be arrested.

The DSP (city) said that the deceased Jasbir Kaur-the mother of two minor sons-often complained of not getting money from her husband for household expenses. The village panchayat and relatives intervened every time and settled the matter, but the couple quarreled again after a short interval.
