Punjab SC panel chief gets award

Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes chairman Rajesh Bagha on Wednesday received the national Guru Ravidass Rattan Award for his immense efforts and contribution to safeguard the interests and rights of the scheduled castes students besides motivating them towards higher education.

The award was bestowed on him jointly by senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar and former Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan at a function in Delhi, a spokesman here said.

Indresh Kumar on the occasion said that Bagha played a pivotal role to convert the vision and dreams envisioned by Dr B R Ambedkar and Dalit icon Babu Jagjiwan Ram into reality. He also gave a call to political, social and religious leaders to come forward for ensuring education to the deprived sections of society.
