The Punjab government has sought broad cooperation from the US to further accelerate the pace of ongoing development in the state's education, health, industry and other sectors.
The agenda was taken up at a meeting between Punjab NRI affairs minister Bikram Singh Majithia and the US political consulate general Ms. Herro Muspha, when the latter called on the minister at his residence here on Sunday, a spokesman said.
Majithia also demanded 'mutual exchange programme' on agriculture, industry and education, saying that the state government was ready to follow the required procedures to initiate such joint ventures.
Welcoming Muspha, Majithia told her that Punjab required coordination with the US in key development sectors including agriculture, health, education, power, IT, business and renewal energy.
He also suggested that the Ropar IIT could become one of the key centres for such joint programmes in the field of IT and other academic fields, besides employment generation.
