Punjab government today said it would take steps to create 10 lakh new jobs in the state.
"Of these, two lakh jobs will be created in government sector and at least three lakh jobs in IT sector. The rest would be in industry, manufacturing and service sectors," Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil said in his address to the state assembly.
He said the department would open skill development centers in each district and sub-division headquarters in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode to train youth for technical jobs.
Special diplomas in civil engineering to hone basic skills for masons, plumbers and carpenters and other artisans would be started to increase employability of youths, especially from economically weaker sections of Society, he added.
