Over a month after its top leaders joined another student group, the Panjab University Student Union (PUSU) announced its new executive committee.

Law department student Sahejpal Singh Sidhu has been announced as its president, Navaldeep Singh is now campus president, Harshdeep Singh Shergill is chairman, Amandeep Kamboj is colleges' chairman and Ashish Kumar is the new party incharge.

Jaskaran Singh Brar, who claimed that he was one of founder members of the party in the year 1977, announced the new committee.

Sidhu stated that a detailed list of office bearers would be issued soon.

"The recent desertion by certain party workers has not affected the party and the morale of the workers remains high. We assure the students of Panjab University of functioning in a constructive manner and fight for student rights and issues," he said.

On February 26, the then PUSU president Yadvinder Dhaliwal, among others, had joined Student organization of India (SOI), the student wing of Shiromani Akali Dal.
