PUTA president Devinder Singh to contest another term

Department of law professor and current Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) president, Devinder Singh, will be contesting elections for the post of PUTA president. His name was announced on Saturday by K Tankeshwar, senior faculty member and director of Panjab University’s computer centre.

Singh was candidate of senator Ashok Goyal and K Tankeshwar’s group in the PUTA elections of 2013-14. However, it was not immediately clear whether
Goyal group would support him in these elections. Tankeshwar when contacted said that he had spoken to those who supported Singh in the previous elections before finalising his name. But sources in Goyal’s group said that they had not decided about any candidate so far.Khaled Mohammed and Akshaya Kumar’s group is likely to decide its presidential candidate on Monday.
