The cyber wing of the UT police is investigating a complaint that a miscreant created a fake email ID of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chandigarh Central Observer, Roopinder Dhaliwal, and sent her resignation letter to the party’s office bearers and national leaders.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had complained to the UT SSP that the ID, Roopinderdhaliwaal@gmail.com (note the extra a in Dhaliwal), had been sending misleading and malicious mails, including the resignation.

UT SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill said: “We have received the complaint and have forwarded it to the cyber cell, which is investigating the matter.”

The resignation email had been copied to national leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and also to the state committee and Chandigarh AAP candidate Gul Panag.

“This (the false email) is nothing but an impersonation of Dhaliwal, by misuse of the internet to malign the name of the party, its members, office bearers and the leader herself,” the party said.

Dhaliwal and another central observer Rajeev Godara also met the SSP in this regard.
