Kings XI Punjab announced the appointment of former Ranji player R Sridhar as their fielding coach on Wednesday. The 43-year-old left-arm spinner played for Hyderabad for 22 years before a switch for a career in coaching in 2001. Of late, he had accompanied the under-19 Indian team as assistant coach for the Youth World Cup held last month in the UAE.
"I am honoured to be a part of KXIP and would like to thank the franchisee for entrusting me with the opportunity to coach one of the most balanced team in IPL season 7. The squad constitutes of young, talented and experienced players, and I am looking forward to working with them to make success in the upcoming IPL season," said Sridhar.
While welcoming the newly appointed fielding coach to the KXIP fold, team coach Sanjay Bangar said, "Sridhar has been a tremendous player and I am certain that together by setting in the right techniques, we will be able to coach the team to play some great cricket this season."
