Within hours of the liquor vend loot, two armed men with their faces covered looted Rs. 40,000 from a head raagi’s (priest’s) house at Phase 3B2, after locking up the family members in the washroom. Some gold ornaments were also reported to be missing.
The house owner, Harjeet Singh, is the head raagi of the 3B2 gurdwara.

In his complaint, Singh told the police that around 6 am on Saturday, two masked men trained a gun on his 15-year-old son and asked the family to hand over the cash at home.

On their plea, that they had no cash at home, the gunmen locked his wife, son and daughter in the washroom and ransacked the house, fleeing with Rs. 40,000 and some gold ornaments.

“My son managed to climb out of the exhaust fan window and reach me at the gurdwara. I rushed to my house and found that the front door lock had been opened with the key (he used to lock the house before going for prayers at 5 am),” he said.

SAS Nagar SSP Indermohan Singh Bhatti said, “It is strange that the lock has been opened with the key. We are studying the CCTV camera footage of the area and also of the gurdwara.”

A case under section 390 (robbery) and several sections of the Arms Act had been registered against unidentified people.
