In an endeavor to re-organise and energise the party ahead of the upcoming Himachal Pradesh assembly polls, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will be arriving here on a two-day visit Monday.
Gandhi will address a meeting of senior party functionaries and party workers during his stay here.
According to reports, former union minister Virbhadra Singh, Congress MP Raj Babbar, minister for Road Transport and Highways P. C. Joshi and minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik will be accompanying Gandhi during his visit.
The Congress High Command has appointed Virbhadra Singh as the chairman of campaign committee for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh assembly polls.
Virbhadra Singh, who enjoys the mass support across the state, is one of the strongest contenders for the chief ministerial berth. Moreover, he also enjoys the support of majority of Congress MLAs.
Virbhadra Singh, who held the micro, small and medium enterprises portfolio, resigned from the union cabinet on June 26, following the framing of corruption charges against him for allegedly misusing his office when he was Himachal Pradesh chief minister in 1989.
