Rajoana protests reach J&K, dozens held

chandigarh Updated: Mar 28, 2012 14:35 IST

Police today detained dozens of Sikhs protesting in Srinagar against the scheduled hanging of Balwant Singh Rajoana in the assassination case of the then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh.

Protesters gathered at a gurdwara in the city centre from where they tried to take out a street march to protest against Rajoana's hanging.

"There has been no justice to the victims of 1984 riots, nothing has happened. Those who committed crimes are now the rulers. And this person (Rajoana) is being hanged, which is not right," one of the Sikh leaders said.
