Rayat International School,Railmajra, near Rupnagar, has been selected as the mentor school by the Microsoft.
It is only school in North India, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana and among the five schools in the country, that have been selected as the mentor institute by the software corporation.
The chairman of Rayat-Bahra group of institutes, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, congratulated the school management and said, "We are proud that the school has been selected as mentor institute among the top 70 schools in the world by Microsoft. The achievement carries more weight as Rayat International School had been catering to the common students and not the elite ones in the society."
Principal Bindu Sharma said mentor institutes are those schools which have achieved change within their education system. To be considered as mentor schools, the schools should demonstrate a commitment to innovation. They should also develope programs that can serve as models for other schools,"she said.
The schools selected as mentor institutes, have been invited to participate in global learning forums organised by Microsoft. The schools have also been recognised as global leaders in school education by the software company and can attend leadership workshops organised at the international level by Microsoft.
