All is not well with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) as the party is hit by rebel trouble ahead of the assembly elections. Eleven days after the announcement of the first list of 62 candidates, a party MLA and other leaders have rebelled against the leadership and alleged wrong distribution of tickets.
In the INLD stronghold of Rania, Jind and Hisar, its senior leaders like Krishan Kamboj, Surinder Singh Barwala and Umed Singh Lohan have called it quits.
Krishan Kamboj, who raised a banner of revolt against the INLD leadership on Sunday, had recently met Haryana Lokhit Party president Gopal Kanda and his younger brother Gobind Kanda. Kamboj will, reportedly, join the HLP soon.
He led an open attack against the INLD leadership and alleged that their faulty style of distribution of tickets will lead to party’s defeat in the assembly elections and he will oppose the INLD candidate in the elections.
Kamboj has a good hold in the Rania area. He belongs to the Kamboj community and if joins the HLP it will make the situation difficult for the INLD in Rania assembly segment.
Meanwhile, the INLD has given the Rania ticket to a youth from the same community, Ram Chand Kamboj, who is a Dera Sacha Sauda follower. The INLD wants to cash on his dera connection in the polls. However, it won’t be that easy for the party because Krishan Kamboj, also a dera follower, had defeated Congress leader Ranjeet Singh from Rania segment in the 2009 polls.
The Rania assembly seat, which is dominated by rural population, is expected to witness a multi-cornered contest. The probable candidates are HLP’s Gobind Kanda, Congress’ Ranjeet Singh who is seeking ticket again; INLD has fielded Ram Chand Kamboj instead of sitting MLA Krishan Kamboj and Congress rebel Jagdish Nehra may get BJP ticket.
On the other hand, INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala said no one can be bigger than the party.
Krishan Kamboj leaving the party will not make any difference.
He said members of the Kamboj community came to him and asked to give ticket to Ram Chand and after consultations the party decided to field him as party candidate.
