Fog reduced visibility to less than 50 metres in parts of Punjab and Haryana on Monday. "The temperature has been falling for the past three days. The days will be partly cloudy with fog at night in the plains," Surinder Paul, Meteorological center director said here.

Cold wave and foggy conditions will persist during the next 48 hours.

In Haryana, Karnal recorded a high of 10.4 degrees Celsius and a low of 5.4, while Hisar recorded a maximum of 12.9 degrees and a minimum of 5.4 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar saw a high of 10 degrees Celsius and a low of 6 degrees, while Patiala shivered recorded a maximum of 11.6 and minimum of 5.6 degrees Celsius.

In Himachal Pradesh, Kalpa witnessed a low of minus 2.6 degrees, while the maximum temperature was 10 degrees, while the minimum in Shimla was 1.7 degrees Celsius and the maximum was 13.4 degrees. Solan saw a maximum of 19 degrees and a minimum of minus 1.5 degrees.

In Jammu, the maximum temperature was 8 degrees below normal at 11.1 and the minimum was 7.7. Srinagar recorded a high of 9.1 degrees and a low of minus 2.
