Regularise teachers appointed under SSA, demands state BJP unit
A delegation led by Chandigarh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit chief, Sanjay Tandon, met advisor to administrator KK Sharma and finance secretary Sarvjit Singh demanding that contractual teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Society, computer teachers and guest teachers teaching in different schools of the city be confirmed as regular employees.
A delegation led by Chandigarh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit chief, Sanjay Tandon, met advisor to administrator KK Sharma and finance secretary Sarvjit Singh demanding that contractual teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Society, computer teachers and guest teachers teaching in different schools of the city be confirmed as regular employees.
The delegation raised the issues of approximately 2000 teachers working on a contractual basis in the city.
The advisor to the administrator and finance secretary assured the delegation that the administration would adjust the teachers in UT education department on re gular basis soon and the procedure was under process. BJP claimed in a statement that the administration had already taken permission from the government to absorb contract-based teachers either as Trained Graduate Teachers or Post Graduate Teachers.
The of ficers also said they would send the proposal to the government in favour of teachers working under SSA and computer teachers within the next two days. BJP said Tandon had also raised the case of 400 families of Kajheri village whose land had been acquired by the administration and who were fighting for adequate compensation. Officers have assured to look into the matter.
On Monday, the BJP also carried out a candle march in the memory of those who died in the Uttarakhand floods last year. Leaders, including Sanjay Tandon, joined the candle march in Sector 17
