The Election Commission on Friday decided to have repolling done at five polling booths falling under Firozpur Jhirka assembly constituency in Mewat district on Saturday, where polling was disrupted because due to violence and reports of rampant bogus voting on October 15.

It was alleged that the polling was disrupted after supporters of Congress candidate Azaad Mohammad and those of an Independent candidate, Maman Khan, clashed and accused each other of bogus voting.

It was also alleged that an altercation also took place inside a polling booth, during which some election officials were manhandled.

The five polling stations where repoll will be held are 91-government primary school, Mohammed Bas (alias Buchaka); 101-government high school, Neemkhera; 102-government senior secondary school, Badedh (right room); 107-government middle school, Tigaon (right room); and 108-government middle school, Tigaon (left room).

Meanwhile, the Haryana government had notified October 18 as a public holiday in all the government, semi-government offices, educational institutions, boards and corporations of the state government falling under Firozpur Jhirka assembly constituency.

The government had also announced that October 18 will be a close day (holiday) for all shops and commercial establishments falling under Firozpur Jhirka assembly constituency so as to provide opportunity to the public to exercise their franchise.
