Health and family welfare minister Surjit Kumar Jyani on Monday said all departments should work collectively to stop spreading of dengue in the state and reports of suspected dengue cases must be sent to the health department.

He was presiding over a meeting of the state task force constituted for inter-sector coordination and involvement of other stakeholder departments in prevention and control of dengue and other vector-borne diseases.

Jyani said 2,000 cases of dengue had been reported in the state till date of which 1,800 had been treated and discharged and 200 were being treated in government hospitals. He warned private hospitals against creating panic among the public about dengue, saying strict action would be taken against such hospitals.

He said the state government had constituted a dengue review committee which would review all dengue cases and the real cases of dengue would be listed.

The minister said dengue-testing is free of cost at government hospitals and separate beds had been identified for dengue patients in all government hospitals.
