Ludhiana: As many as 56 students of MA Punjabi of Government College for Girls (GCG), Ludhiana, are on the verge of losing their crucial academic year. The Panjab University (PU) has withheld their result of third semester, citing that their admission fee has not been submitted on time.
The PU had on Monday evening declared the results of all other students of MA Punjabi third semester, but when the GCG, Ludhiana, students logged on to the PU website to know the result, it showed RLF (result late fee) `1,870.
A student, on condition of anonymity, said, “I was so excited to know my result, but I was left disappointed when the PU website showed RLF `1,870. I immediately informed my classmates. All of them said the same. On Tuesday morning, we informed college principal Gurminder Kaur about the matter.”
The college authorities told HT that they deposited the examination fee for the f Masters in Punjabi, Fine Arts, Instrumental Music (first and third semester), MSc Information Technology first semester, MCom first semester on October 7 in the bank account and on the same day the fee was transferred to the university. The examination forms were sent online on the same date as well, they added.
Principal Gurminder Kaur said, “We had sent the fee of all post graduate classes together on October 7 which was the last date to submit the fee to university. While the university declared the result of masters in Fine Arts last week, the result of masters in Punjabi third semester has not been declared.”
The MA Fine Arts result was declared on March 30.
“We are not defaulters. We have contacted the department concerned in PU and they have directed us to submit the receipts of fee and the same have been sent to the University today (Tuesday)," Kaur added.
Deputy registrar, PU, (examination branch) Rajinder Agnihotri, said, “If university website is showing RLF (result late fee) `1,870 that means the college is a defaulter and has not submitted the examination fee on time. Further we are inquiring the matter.”
