Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday hoped positive outcome for Congress in the four parliamentary seats, including Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Hamirpur.
“I am confident that results will be positive,” said the CM when asked about the polling. “I am not an astrologer or speculator to predict the outcome,” added the CM whose political career has spanned over 50 years. “I have campaigned rigorously throughout the state. I have firm faith on the people of Himachal Pradesh,” he said.
Virbhadra Singh rejected that heavy polling in Himachal was because of the Modi wave as is being claimed by the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. “The election commission worked hard to make the voters aware. The commission initiated door to door campaign to provide voting slips to the electors,” said Virbhadra Singh, adding that a clear sky also resulted in the high voting percentage in the four parliamentary seats.
“It’s clear that we will win the Sujanpur assembly seat,” said the CM, who returned to the Shimla after casting ballot in his home town Rampur Bushar. However Congress nominee from Mandi, Virbhadra Singh’s wife, Pratibha Singh, did not come back to Shimla after polling.
Virbhadra’s his son Vikram Aditya Singh, who heads the state youth Congress, spent most of his time campaigning in Hamirpur parliamentary seat, left for Delhi in the afternoon.
